Install
Install WolfWave on a Mac with macOS 26 and Apple Silicon. Download the signed DMG or use Homebrew, then walk through the 7-step setup wizard.
TL;DR: For streamers setting up WolfWave for the first time. Install the app, follow the setup wizard, then turn on the features you want.
What you need
- macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later. Older versions can't run it.
- A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs aren't supported.
- The Apple Music app. It's built into macOS. WolfWave only reads from Apple Music, not Spotify or other players.
Step 1: Get WolfWave
Pick this if you're not sure. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS won't warn you.
- Open the
.dmgyou downloaded. - Drag WolfWave into Applications.
- Open WolfWave from Applications or Spotlight.
The app updates itself. You can check any time from Settings → Software Update.
Step 2: The setup wizard
The wizard opens the first time you launch WolfWave. It has 7 short steps and takes about two minutes.
- The top of the window says where you are, like Step 3 of 7 · Discord.
- Next moves on. On Apple Music and Twitch it reads Skip until you finish that step. Press Return for it (on Twitch, Return joins your channel instead).
- Back (or Escape) returns to the step before.
- Skip setup ends the wizard and keeps the default settings.
- You can finish anything later in Settings, or open the wizard again from Settings → Advanced → Rerun Setup Wizard.
Welcome
A quick hello. WolfWave shares only what you turn on.
Apple Music
This one matters. It lets WolfWave see the song that's playing.
- Click Allow Apple Music access.
- Click OK when macOS asks.
Clicked "Don't Allow" by mistake? Click Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security → Automation → WolfWave, turn on Music, then come back. WolfWave checks again on its own, or click Check again.
Discord
Turn on Show on Discord to show your song on your Discord profile.
- The step tells you whether Discord is open. WolfWave talks to it directly, so it has to be.
- Listen buttons ("Listen on Apple Music" and a link for any other music app) are on. One tap turns them off.
- No bot or token needed.
Twitch
- Click Connect with Twitch.
- Your browser opens twitch.tv/activate. Enter the code WolfWave shows and approve.
- Type your channel name under Which channel should WolfWave join? and click Join.
!song and !last are already on, so chat can ask what's playing right away. Turn either off on this step.
Your sign-in is saved in your Mac's Keychain. You never type your Twitch password into WolfWave.
Stream overlay
- Turn on Stream overlay.
- Click Copy next to the overlay link.
- In OBS, add a Browser Source and paste the link.
Sizes and styles are in Stream Widgets.
Alerts
- Click Allow notifications.
- Pick your alerts: Song changes, Skip vote started, Skip vote passed.
All are off unless you turn them on.
Mac settings
Three switches, all off until you turn them on:
- Start WolfWave at login.
- Remember my listening history. Kept on this Mac only. Powers History & Stats.
- Sync settings with iCloud. Your preferences follow you to your other Macs. Accounts stay on this one. See Back Up & Restore.
Click Finish. The last screen points at the wolf icon in your menu bar: click it any time to see what's playing or open Settings. Click Done and you're set.
